Glasgow housing and roofs
Much of the inner city is blond and red sandstone tenements with slate roofs, often shared between eight or more flats. Further out, in areas such as Newlands, Cathcart, Knightswood and Robroyston, you find bungalows, semis and newer estates with simpler pitched roofs that are well suited to a solar array.
South and west-facing slopes give the most generation, but an east and west split works well with a battery, because the battery evens out the morning and afternoon peaks.

Parking and EV chargers
A home charger needs off-street parking, so most tenement streets are not suitable. Houses with a driveway or garage usually are, and the survey checks the cable route from your fuse board to where you park.
Planning, weather and network
Glasgow has a large number of conservation areas, including much of the West End, and many listed buildings. Panels on these properties usually need planning permission or listed building consent, which we check at the survey. The weather is wet and often overcast, so the design covers the whole year, with the battery and an overnight tariff doing more of the work in winter. Your network operator is SP Energy Networks.
