Why bundle solar, battery and EV charger together?

Quick answer

What do you gain by fitting all three at once?

Bundling solar panels, a home battery and an EV charger means one survey, one design and one installation team. Each part is sized to work with the others, so the battery covers both house and car, and the charger can use solar surplus. You get one quotation, one handover and one number to call afterwards.

One design instead of three

When three companies fit three products, nobody is responsible for making them work together. A single design means the inverter, battery and charger are chosen to talk to each other.

It also means the battery is sized for the house and the car together, rather than as an afterthought once the panels are already on the roof.

What a bundle includes

A typical bundle covers solar panels and mounting, an inverter, a home battery, a smart EV charger, the electrical work to connect it all, commissioning and network operator notification.

Scaffolding is stated clearly in your quotation, either included or listed as a separate item, so you can compare like with like.

Installed through MCS-certified partners

We install through MCS-certified partners. The company named on your MCS certificate is the company that does the work, and you can check that before you sign.

You get one handover covering every part of the system, with the paperwork for each component in one place.

We install through MCS-certified partners across Scotland. Your postcode decides whether SP Energy Networks or SSEN is your network operator, and the network approval is handled as part of the process.

Why install all three together rather than separately?

A single installer sizes the panels, battery and charger to work as one system. The battery is sized to cover both house and car, the charger works with the solar inverter, and there is one point of contact.

What does a bundle typically include?

Solar panels, a home battery, a smart EV charger, an inverter, mounting and installation. One quotation covers all components. Scaffolding is stated up front, either included or listed as an extra.

How is the system sized for my household?

The surveyor looks at your roof, how far you drive and how much electricity you use. The panels are sized to your roof and usage, the battery to your overnight house and car needs, and the charger to your car.

Who carries out the installation?

We install through MCS-certified partners. The installer named on your MCS certificate is the company that carries out the work, and you can check the certificate details before you sign.

Is one point of contact better than three?

Yes. With a single integrated system there is no doubt about which company is responsible for which part. If something stops working, you call one number rather than three companies pointing at each other.
