How the cookie banner works
When you first visit the site, a banner at the bottom of the page asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Your choice is stored in a first-party cookie called consent_state so the site does not ask you again on your next visit.
If you reject analytics cookies, no analytics cookies are set and Google Analytics does not run. If you accept, GA4 loads and collects anonymised usage data. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser cookies, which removes the banner and lets you choose again.
What we use analytics for

Analytics data helps us understand which pages are useful, how people find the site and which parts of Scotland visitors are in. We use this to improve the content. We do not use analytics for advertising and we do not share the data with advertising partners.
Essential cookies
The consent_state cookie is essential — without it, we cannot remember your cookie choice and the site would show the banner on every visit. It is set only after you interact with the banner.
No advertising cookies
We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels or social media tracking cookies. No third-party advertising cookies are set on this site.
How to manage cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block, delete or alert you to cookies. See your browser's help pages for instructions. Blocking all cookies will not stop the site from working, but the cookie banner will appear each time you visit.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to see what data we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, and withdraw your consent at any time. Email info@scottishenergyefficiency.co.uk or see our privacy policy for full details. You can also complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
